I’ve been working on experimenting with and collecting much requested “foundation factoids” (or at least recommendations, but hey, I love illiteration) lately . . .I found three great formulas along with my personal favorite and there should be a little something for everyone here.
Application quick tips to remember:
- If it’s cream, mousse or liquid, use your fingers, a brush or sponge to apply.
- You can “cut” any liquid formula for lighter coverage by adding a bit of H20
- For the love of humanity: BLEND.
THE TOP CONTENDERS FOR MOST AWESOME FOUNDATION:
What is this? Miracle Skin Transformer
Who should use it? Combination to Dry Complexions in need of Light Coverage
The Skinny: Who knew that one product could transform skin instantly? This tinted skin enhancer will leave your skin looking airbrushed, hydrated and protected in one easy step. Miracle Skin Transformer SPF20 is designed to improve skin texture overall as well as minimize fine lines and pores. www.sephora.com
What is this? Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse
Who should use it? Dehydrated complexions in need of Moderate/Heavy Coverage and Moisture
- The Skinny: Ultra cushy, moisturizing whipped foundation preps and corrects skin while leaving it looking and feeling hydrated – never rough or dry. Although this won’t clog pores and is safe for sensitive skin, I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone but the very parched. www.ulta.com
What is this? Dr. Perricone No Foundation Foundation
Who should use it? Normal to Dry Complexions in need of Very Light Coverage and Moisture
This silky formula leaves skin looking dewy and flawless, delivering “foundation” benefits without the heavy finish. This serum like makeup provides natural translucent coverage, corrects skin undertones, instantly smoothes fine lines and hydrates. For those seeking an uber natural look, this Dr. Perricone creation is fabulous. www.sephora.com
What is this? Bare Escentuals Original Mineral Foundation
Who should use it? Oily to Normal Complexions in need of Light to Very Heavy Coverage
My personal everyday favorite gives as little or as much coverage as you want with a luminous finish. It’s finely milled powder texture feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully.
(Side note: Bare Escentuals claims it’s just so great for your skin that you can sleep in it. Really? I will never endorse any advice telling you to sleep in your makeup. Besides, who wants to change pillow cases every day?!) www.bareescentuals.com
Food for Thought!
Foundation is not concealer. Concealer is Concealer. I hear all the time that someone’s foundation isn’t covering a (fill in the blank) and I always remind said confused person that it was never designed to. If you have imperfections or under eye darkness that need camouflaging – concealer is your new best friend.
TiGi makes these fabulous little concealer sticks that I use in my kit, they are great for hiding flaws as well as contouring:

Korres Concealer is perfect for undereye use as well as my best friend for faking my way to bright eyed and bushy tailed. (Actually . . .forget the tail part):

Have a Beautiful Day!
