Smitten with . . .a Smooth Move . . .

[ssba]

I admit it, I am smitten with . . .nay, OBSESSED with. . . my VitaMix blender. It is magical. Although I consider myself someone who would rather eat calories than drink them, I do find that by using the right substitute ingredients, smoothies can be a low calorie, high nutrition addition to anyone’s diet. I’ve never ingested more dark leafy greens in my life and by crikey I can absolutely tell a difference in how my skin looks. AH-MAZING.

My favorite ingredients!

Kale

Seriously, so incredibly high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, lutein, and calcium that I just want to drink it. Oh wait . . .I do. : ) Kale is king of the vegetables.

Spinach

Again, another vitamin superstar, (loaded with vitamin A which is EXCELLENT for your skin) and it is delicious. Throw in a handful with ANYTHING.

Cucumber

Leave that green peel ON and you will get plenty of vitamin C & B! It’s a-good for a-you!

Strawberries

Another vitamin C filled delight, and relatively low in sugar compared with other fruits, so this is my go-to, along with . . .

Raspberries

They are scrumptious, no denying it. Vitamins C & B galore.

Unsweetened SO DELICIOUS Coconut Milk

The brand really is called “So Delicious” and aptly so as it really IS so delicious. And only 45 calories a serving AND only 1 gram of carbohydrates per serving. BAM.

Somewhat unecessary side note: as smoothie ingredients I tend to avoid yogurt, bananas, pineapple juice,  oatmeal and most other high sugar, high calorie ingredients, but that’s just me. I feel that at that point you’ve got such a high calorie concoction on your hands that you’re negating the whole point to begin with. In my opinion. Which is not that of a certified nutritionist. It’s the opinion of just . . .lil ‘ol me.’ : )

ANYWAY . . .for the main event . . .

Enjoy a blog flip book, if you will, which is entitled:

“Sarah G. of Giggar Makeup Artistry and her darling Yorkie sidekick Porter make a smoothie.”  (That’s just the working title.)

Prepped to make smoothie magic with Kale, Cucumber, Pear, Blueberry and Coconut Milk.

Lovely layers of fruits and vegetables. Little do they know what is in store for them . . . : (

Porter is a good helper. Actually he just stares cutely the whole time, but it helps. Porter LOVES smoothies.

Let the wild rumpus start!! This is terribly blurry, but, it IS an action shot after all.

Anything THIS ugly has GOT to be good for you. Thankfully this concoction tastes far, far better than it looks, once again teaching us not to judge on appearance. : )

Porter is quality control CEO.

Let me translate this look: "Why does the CEO only get a tablespoon of this LIQUID GOLD?!?! (a.k.a Please sir, can I have some more?!)"

In parting let me remind you that the more dark green veggies, antioxidants and water in your diet, the more your skin will GLOW. . . makeup or no! Now listen to Auntie Sarah and go drink your veggies!! : )
