I admit it, I am smitten with . . .nay, OBSESSED with. . . my VitaMix blender. It is magical. Although I consider myself someone who would rather eat calories than drink them, I do find that by using the right substitute ingredients, smoothies can be a low calorie, high nutrition addition to anyone’s diet. I’ve never ingested more dark leafy greens in my life and by crikey I can absolutely tell a difference in how my skin looks. AH-MAZING.
My favorite ingredients!
Seriously, so incredibly high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, lutein, and calcium that I just want to drink it. Oh wait . . .I do. : ) Kale is king of the vegetables.
Again, another vitamin superstar, (loaded with vitamin A which is EXCELLENT for your skin) and it is delicious. Throw in a handful with ANYTHING.
Leave that green peel ON and you will get plenty of vitamin C & B! It’s a-good for a-you!
Another vitamin C filled delight, and relatively low in sugar compared with other fruits, so this is my go-to, along with . . .
They are scrumptious, no denying it. Vitamins C & B galore.
Unsweetened SO DELICIOUS Coconut Milk
The brand really is called “So Delicious” and aptly so as it really IS so delicious. And only 45 calories a serving AND only 1 gram of carbohydrates per serving. BAM.
Somewhat unecessary side note: as smoothie ingredients I tend to avoid yogurt, bananas, pineapple juice, oatmeal and most other high sugar, high calorie ingredients, but that’s just me. I feel that at that point you’ve got such a high calorie concoction on your hands that you’re negating the whole point to begin with. In my opinion. Which is not that of a certified nutritionist. It’s the opinion of just . . .lil ‘ol me.’ : )
ANYWAY . . .for the main event . . .
Enjoy a blog flip book, if you will, which is entitled:
“Sarah G. of Giggar Makeup Artistry and her darling Yorkie sidekick Porter make a smoothie.” (That’s just the working title.)
In parting let me remind you that the more dark green veggies, antioxidants and water in your diet, the more your skin will GLOW. . . makeup or no! Now listen to Auntie Sarah and go drink your veggies!! : )
