The temperature outside is still on the pseudo frigid side . . .but who cares – I’m ready, no. . . DYING, to pretend it’s summer. The time has come for ceremonious unpacking of espadrilles and skirts from their winter confinement, and for re-assessing wintery makeup loot as well. Time to switch formulas and techniques to reflect the lightness (and hopefully the eventual warmth) of the season. Here is my product swapping plan:
Swapping Black Mascara for Brown
Press your black mascara at the roots only, use brown from mid-lash to the tips. Brown alone on the lower lashes. You’ll have a softer, more wide-eyed version of fullness and definition that’s just right for sunny days. My favorite is, as always, L’Oreal Voluminous. At under $8 a pop you won’t mind buying both colors! Drugstores.
Swapping Rosy Powder Blush for Peach Cream Blush
Matteness just isn’t cutting it – neither is that fall/winter rosiness. Dewey and peachy pink is so fresh, clean and “made-under” for the season. Try Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Pinched. Apply to the apples of your cheeks with a brush or fingertips and blend up and out. Such pretty flush! $12 Drugstores.
Swapping Mineral Base for BB Cream
Lightening up the texture of your base makeup is a sure fire way to illuminate your complexion, and Boscia’s BB Cream is just the ticket. Use concealer as necessary for areas requiring more coverage. $38 Sephora
Swapping Top Liner for Tightlining
I luuuuuurve this trick for adding definition without adding weight! Instead of drawing on top of your upper lash line, press the tip of your eye pencil INTO the lash line and wiggle it back and forth until you’ve worked from one end to the other. The result is the look of thicker lashes, fierce definition and NOT looking like you’re wearing liner. I like using either black or brown Sephora Nano Liners. $5 Sephora
If you have summery beauty swap outs of your own I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear about them!!
Have a Beautiful Day!
